about

MONKEY ISLAND is our "space rock" album. Somewhat similar to STRENGTH in that it is a compilation of improvised studio recordings, a handful of which ("Cannabia Discordia," "Further Down The Lost Highway," and "Monkey Island") occasionally made the transition to live performance. MONKEY ISLAND displays a somewhat more powerful sound on some tracks due to the relatively stable line-up that had formed in the wake of the previous album. "Nienneburg IV" is the fourth version of a sound collage made of various studio scraps.

During this phase, the basic line-up of the band consolidated and grew in communication and general musical aptitude, as Lora, Kenny, and Matt attempted to rise to Dan's high standard of musicianship. We were hampered by repeated drummer issues; 3 drummers moved through the chair at this point, including one Ryan Groves, who sadly never made it to record. It was during this time that Lora's collaborations with Ed Wilcox of the mighty Temple Of Bon Matin led the start of Ed's occasional involvment with us. However, it was another sometime Bon-Matin-er, Leslie Q, in the drum chair the night that we met Lisa "Sunshine" Spera, who saw the performance at the Highwire Gallery one fateful night and wound up joining as our drummer for the next several years.

(a.d.amorosi) From poetry readings to, open mics to rock clubs, afterhours bars, stages and strip clubs, to Dutch churches, book stores and basements, Radio ERIS continues to surf the chaos. ... more
